The call to the Priesthood is reserved to a few select men as chosen by our Lord to serve him and his church in a special way. Today more so than ever, the gentle and soft-spoken voice of our Lord Jesus to call select boys and men to the Priesthood is often drowned out by the many distractions and noise that come from modern-day society trappings and through the work of the evil one. The evil one and, by extension, many members of society discourage people from all walks of life from growing in holiness, and even more to say yes to our Lord to answer his call to be an ordinary saint in this lifetime.
FNE strives to provide an environment and role models to help better young people hear the call to religious life is indeed Jesus Christ is calling them to such a vocation. Only by saying yes will they be truly happy in life.
We are pleased to share the good news that the first-ever former FNE member, a recent troop leader – Husky – Arthur Lee (the leader on the right on the above picture), was ordained to the Priesthood for the Archdiocese of Toronto on Saturday, May.
Father Arthur Lee offered a few comments to share with his FNE brothers and sisters just before his Ordination, and we quote: “I can say that before entering FNE I was having trouble seeing much in the way of good Catholic catechetical instruction for youth, and when I saw what was going on in FNE, my spirits were lifted by the apostolate that was being done through FNE. Otherwise, being a part of FNE was another poke from the Holy Spirit along my own journey towards accepting and choosing God’s call for me towards the vocation of Christ’s Priesthood.“
Just before his Ordination, Father Lee offers these words to our FNE family:
Romans 12:12 – “Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.”
– St. Padre Pio – “There is in the Mass, all of Calvary.”
– St. Josemaria Escriva – “We want Christ to reign.”
In wisdom he reminds FNE to “Call upon our brothers and sisters in heaven, the Saints of Our Holy Mother Church, because they are already praying for us, and are just waiting to hear from each of us how much we need their help and intercession. Ask our Blessed Mother to protect us under her mantle of protection. Jesus desires so deeply to be with us. Pray to Him! Talk to Him! He is waiting for you!”
FNE is very proud to witness this first Priestly Ordination of a former FNE member to the Religious Life and looks forward to others who the Lord is calling to trust him and say, Yes Lord, I have come to do you will. Please pray for Arthur Lee and Andrew Taylor. Andrew is the older brother of Ben Taylor (a former FNE timber wolf and patrol chief now living in Vancouver). We pray that they will both serve the people of God well by bringing the light and love of Jesus into an often dark world for the many years yet to come.
