nFraternal meeting to meditate on the example of the life of our patron, Saint George, and to share experiences with the brothers of another FSE Association. This was the “Saint George afternoon” programme, carried out by the Association of Catholic Guides and Scouts of Brazil (AGEBR), with the precious cooperation of the French brothers.
In the first part, after the invocation of the Holy Spirit, Brother André Tavares, a Dominican, National Religious Advisor at AGEBR, reflected on the figure of Saint George, from the most famous passage of his life: his combat with the dragon. It was a special occasion to reflect and share the true meaning, for Christians in general and Boy Scouts in particular, of the virtue of the fortitude. Also in this first part of the meeting, the French chiefs Jean-Luc Angélis (assistant to the Federal Commissioner), the young chief Antoine Jeaneney, and Enzo Lecoq were present. Also, right at the beginning, Dom Dominique You, a former Scout in France, today Bishop of Conceição do Araguaia (Pará), spoke with the group.
Then, in the second part, the young Chief Antoine Jeanneney, from the French Association, head of the green branch, shared his beautiful experience as a Catholic Boy Scout in excellent Portuguese (he lived seven years in Brazil). Everyone was able to ask good questions to the young brother, who also showed beautiful images of his group’s summer camp.
We hope to repeat the formula. It was a great time for spiritual reflection, meeting, and fraternal sharing, with the blessings of the Lord, through the intercession of our saint patron.
Long live Saint George!
